Campground Review: Lakeland RV Ranch

Campground Review: Lakeland RV Ranch

When we first moved to Texas, Tony was going to be working in Plano. We found, Lakeland RV Ranch, a nice RV park that was a little over thirty minutes away from his work. After arriving, Tony’s work decided they really needed him in Dallas instead. This extended his commute to over an hour. We decided we would work with what we had and try and transfer to a different location at a later time. (You can read more about why Tony was working.)

What we liked about Lakeland RV Ranch

Lakeland RV Ranch was a great park located in Farmersville, Texas near Lake Lavon. It was reasonably priced and included 50amp, free laundry, water, sewer, a catch and release pond, workout room, and free wifi. They also had an upgraded wifi plan. However, the main reason we loved this park was the horses! The horses were located directly in front of the RV and my girls were in LOVE.

Michelle, the owner, was very nice and allowed the girls to ride the horses before we left. They were thrilled and still talk about this today.

We stayed here for 5 months until Tony transferred to Huntsville. We really loved this park and highly recommend it. The community was great. We had a wonderful neighbor Will and his puppy Lilly Belle. We also met new friends that we still keep in contact with today. Hi Kurina and girls! Lakeland also hosted some fun events for everyone to attend.

What we didn’t like

We don’t have many cons but this wouldn’t be a full review without sharing all the details. The first con is my number one issue with this lifestyle, not just this campground. HA HA! The free internet was a little slow for my work and not the best for streaming. They did offer a paid program that worked better. However, I don’t think I will ever get sticks and bricks speeds again. 😭

The second issue was the smell. This campground had a sewer smell from the septic system that could get pretty bad. This wasn’t a deal-breaker, but it did stop us from opening windows on nice days. The girls loved this park because of the horses but said the lack of kid things would be their pick. I think a splash pad or simple playground with some swings would’ve been perfect. Finally, the campground is crushed limestone or something that makes it hard to play, ride bikes, or even walk on. However, this did help a lot with flooding.

Local favorites

Elsa, our Labradoodle needs to be groomed on a regular schedule. We have the tools to do it ourself but it’s a lot of work. We tried out Pawmiere Mobile Pet Spa and loved it! This was one of our favorite groomers. If you are in this area and have pets you should check this unique service out!

Weather

Something we didn’t expect was the CRAZY storms and powerful wind in the Dallas area. The wind was so strong every day, I’m pretty sure we could count the non-windy days on one hand. HA HA! The storms were crazy and powerful! I would suggest a weather radio in this area.
