Mom and Dad headed back to Michigan. We already miss them like crazy. The kids loved having them close. That said, something is comforting about getting back into a bit of rhythm—school for the kids, road life for us, and fresh trails to explore. We soaked up every ounce of fun while my parents visited, and Yuma delivered big on the adventure. If you’re exploring things to do in Yuma, here are a few spots we absolutely loved.

We did a few Howlin’ at the Moon nights in Yuma, finally explored the Yuma Territorial Prison Museum, and completed a couple of off-road trails, one to the border wall and one to Big Eye Mine.

We also visited Valley of the Names. It’s this beautiful desert stretch where people have spelled out names and messages with rocks. It’s like a massive guestbook signed by desert wanderers over the years. We also enjoyed a trip to the Cibola National Wildlife Refuge.

While most of our exploring was in Arizona, we did sneak in a San Diego day trip. There are many things to do in Yuma that can keep you busy, but San Diego is only a few hours away. We visited the historic USS Midway and saw the sea lions.
Before leaving Yuma, we went all-in on an RV and Jeep purge—decluttering, organizing, and prepping for the next leg of the journey. We also made a few upgrades: a new AEV lift, a new kitchen setup, and a shiny new Jeep rack.

From there, we rolled into Queen, New Mexico, to escape the heat and map out a trail for Trails Offroad. Mixing work and play is always fun, especially in such a beautiful spot.
✨ What’s next? We’ve got some great podcast episodes coming your way with offroading adventures across Utah, Arizona, Colorado, and New Mexico. And in October, we’ll be heading north to North Dakota.
Whether you’re RVing full-time or just stopping through, Yuma has way more to offer than you might expect. From off-road trails to historic sites, it’s a fantastic base for exploration.
Got your own favorite things to do in Yuma? We’d love to hear them! Drop us a message and share your recommendations.
Until next time, stay wild and keep exploring! 🌄
